Purpose and Goals
As a college student, my main goal has always been to prepare myself for a career in medicine the best I can. I want to be able to fully enjoy the college experience, and graduate as soon as I can. I majored in Public Health Science because it is one of the best majors for the Premed track, and because I am deeply interested in public health. I have always been very passionate about helping people who are unfairly put at a disadvantage, and with healthcare, this disadvantage can be fatal. Like most people, I just want to do my part in making this world a better place. I am also very passionate about music, I would very much like to minor in music, though the pandemic has caused that to become less of a possibility for me. I love to sing and perform. I hope to someday use music as a way to bring joy into people's lives as well. Ultimately though, I want to become a pediatrician, but I want to keep music in my life the way it has been for the last 17 years. College is an opportunity to make new friends, learn, and to grow as a person. I hope to be able to do all of those things. I also hope to have an internship at some point related to medicine, as I have had one before, and I think it is a great opportunity for me to better understand the field I am planning on going into. Lastly, I want to be able to use the Scholars Program to help enrich my experience learning about modern society, and to help me make connections as a student at the University of Maryland.
